Managing Critical Incidents

Managing Critical Incidents

The instructor was able to break the material down so that it is understandable and relatable to what we do. Capt. Pergola was able to give examples that relate to law enforcement within the incident command system. The PowerPoint was easy to follow.

Instructors Pergola and Bigelow make a great team and didn’t have a problem transitioning while co-teaching the course. Both knew the material and it was obvious they have years of experience working critical incidents.

The common sense break down of the ICS system and how it pertains to law enforcement critical incidents was very informative and the manner in which it was presented helped me understand it better. All aspects of this course were of value.

I recently attended the NTOA’s Managing Critical Incidents training taught by instructor Mark Pergola. It was one of the best I have ever attended and I have been to many over my 32 years. I am interested in bringing you back to Indiana. I would like my supervisory staff to receive the same training.

Managing Critical Incidents

I would highly suggest that anyone in communications take this course to increase their knowledge about what happens when law enforcement has to deal with large scale events. It gave me an opportunity to know where we would fit in and when we have to deploy our tactical dispatchers and what information needs to be shared. I have a much better understanding of how the scene is put together and some of the lingo that is used especially on the radio.

I can’t say enough about how this class educated me and how patient the instructor was with all of my questions.

The section covering suicidal barricaded subjects was very informative to the members of my department. Captain Pergola did an excellent job explaining the ramification of the 4th, 5th and 15th amendments along with the Supreme Court decision that Law enforcement has no legal duty to intervene in personal violence.

Captain Pergola is an excellent instructor and I would highly recommend any course he is teaching.
