First
Responders to Critical Incidents (4 Days) |
|
Patrol commanders, patrol officers,
detectives and any other field personnel
(non-tactical) may find themselves involved
in a critical incident where the mission is
time critical, the tactical team may not
arrive in time, or a tactical response team
may not exist at all, and lives will be lost
if action is not taken. This course will
cover the initial response to a critical
incident, situation and risk assessment,
containment and isolation of a problem,
intelligence-gathering procedures,
resolution techniques, team dynamics and
communication, and tactics for surviving
ambushes.

Patrol Counterambush Tactics and Techniques
(3 days) |
|
Patrol officers will learn lifesaving
self-defense tactics when dealing with an
armed criminal/terrorist. Topics include
mental conditioning for armed encounters,
lessons learned from recent armed
confrontations, mobile ambush of
police/military and mobile counterambush
tactics, defense tactics against deadly
threats in and around vehicles and
deployment of the police rifle from a
vehicle. In light of recent events, this
course will also look at counterambush
tactics and countermeasures when confronted
with improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Patrol
Response to Active Shooter Instructor
Certification (3 Days) |
Innovative tactics and tried-and-true
techniques are the hallmark of this course
which is designed for individuals assigned
the responsibility to teach police and SWAT
personnel in immediate deployment/rapid
intervention techniques. This is a
train-the-trainer course. Topics to be
covered include an historical overview of
active shooter situations including school
shootings, immediate deployment/rapid
intervention tactics, barricade-hostage
rescue concepts and instructional
techniques. Standard training weapons and
training ammunition will be used in all
field training exercises.

Patrol Rifle Instructor Certification
(5 Days) |
|
This course is designed for law enforcement instructors who
have the responsibility of teaching patrol
officers the proper deployment of the patrol
rifle. At the conclusion of this course the
student will have a thorough understanding
of instructor development and safety issues;
rifle nomenclature and operation; basic and
advanced marksmanship skills, including
shooting on the move; various barricade
positions; and low light shooting. This
course also covers contemporary deployment
issues such as response to active shooters
and counterambush techniques.

Urban Rifle for Patrol Officers
(3 Days) |
|
This is a 1,000-round course of instruction that will give
the patrol officer a thorough understanding
of nomenclature, operations, disassembly and
assembly skills, as well as marksmanship
fundamentals and skills and the care,
cleaning and use of the urban rifle. The
officer will come away from the course with
a thorough understanding of shooting on the
move, firing in dim light and being able to
utilize other tactical equipment while
maintaining control of the police rifle.
Although the urban rifle is often thought of
as a long-range application weapon, this
urban rifle course will focus on short- and
mid-range applications of the rifle.

Violent Critical Incidents (School,
Workplace or Campus Environment): Planning
and Response (3 days) |
This course is designed for the law
enforcement professional responsible for
preparation for and response to active
shooters and other violent critical
incidents on college and university
campuses, on school grounds or in the
workplace. Patrol officers, tactical
officers and law enforcement administrators
will benefit from the information in this
course. Topics to be covered include a
history of attacks in public environments;
threat analysis; vulnerability assessments
and other pre-planning activities; first
responder rapid deployment; tactical team
response; and personnel and equipment
selection. Students will participate in
group discussions and exercises
